CZOstrava sings gospel
OSG is a unique project that premiered in Ostrava in 2013 and since then has grown to a size and form that is unprecedented in the Czech Republic. A 20-member big band, 200 enthusiasts in the choir and led by the charismatic choirmaster and showman Terry English, a Brit living in Ostrava, the head of the entire project.
The celebration of Advent with music and singing again this year at the beginning of December hopelessly filled Ostrava’s largest multifunctional hall Gong in the Lower Vítkovice area, three times in a row. OSG is a new group every year, where both experienced singers and complete amateurs meet in the choir.
Men and women aged 15-70. Many of them are not religious, many do not know sheet music, others do not know English. But after a month of rehearsing, everyone bursts onto the stage like a white avalanche, ready to sing for their lives under the direction of Terry English, because personal participation and spontaneous experience are an inherent part of gospel.
